Position Summary
This position serves a dual function, supporting the school's technology ecosystem while helping students develop responsible and effective technology skills. This role partners with faculty, staff, students, and families to ensure technology resources are reliable, accessible, and aligned with educational goals.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical troubleshooting abilities with a passion for supporting students and educators in the effective use of technology within a learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Operations & User Support (Approximately 60%)
Technical Support
- Provide front-line technology support for faculty, staff, and students.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and account-access issues.
- Support classroom and instructional technology to ensure consistent functionality.
Device & Asset Management
- Assist with deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of school-owned devices.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for technology assets and software subscriptions.
- Support equipment procurement, evaluation, and replacement planning.
Systems Administration
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across school technology platforms.
- Help maintain the integrity, security, and efficiency of core administrative and learning systems.
- Support data management processes and user access requests.
Infrastructure Coordination
- Monitor technology resources and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers on technology projects and maintenance activities.
- Support wireless connectivity, printing services, and other operational technology needs.
Cybersecurity & Digital Safety
- Implement and support technology safety measures and content-filtering solutions.
- Promote responsible use of school technology resources.
- Assist with security best practices, compliance requirements, and risk mitigation efforts.
Student Learning Specialist (Approximately 40%)
Program Development
- Develop and deliver age-appropriate lessons that promote responsible and effective technology use.
- Integrate technology skill development into the broader educational experience.
- Adapt learning experiences to meet the needs of students across multiple grade levels.
Student Instruction
Facilitate engaging learning experiences focused on topics such as:
- Online safety and responsible digital behavior
- Privacy awareness and personal information protection
- Cyberbullying prevention and positive online interactions
- Critical evaluation of digital content and information sources
- Digital footprint awareness and online reputation
- Ethical use of technology and intellectual property
Faculty Support
- Partner with educators to enhance technology integration within classrooms.
- Provide guidance on instructional technology tools and effective digital learning practices.
- Facilitate technology-focused training sessions and professional learning opportunities.
Family Engagement
- Support initiatives that help families navigate technology-related topics affecting students.
- Share resources and best practices regarding digital wellness, online safety, and emerging technology trends.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Education, or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience providing technical support, technology services, or educational technology support.
- Experience working with children, students, educators, or youth-focused programs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Preferred
- Experience in a school, educational, nonprofit, or youth-focused environment.
- Experience supporting cloud-based productivity and collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with student information systems, learning management systems, or educational technology tools.
- Industry-recognized technology or educational technology certifications.
